Hope, Healing and Happiness in Trauma Recovery

I tried posting another video on here just to spare my right hand from any further pain. I just wanted to update everyone on how I have been.

I’ll make this as short as I can.

When I got to work Monday my client informed me that a cat had wondered into her house in the middle of the night through the doggy door and she has been unable to get it to leave. She said it was “a cute, little black cat”, but that her dog had it cornered in the back bedroom all day.

First, I walked the neighborhood asking people if they were missing a black cat, but everyone I asked said “no” and that they had no idea whose cat it would be.

After asking neighbors, I then ran home and got my cat crate. When I got back to her house the dog still had the cat cornered. When I went to reach down for the cat it turned around and attacked my hand, hanging on with his teeth. Yes, it was a “he” I noticed, and he was very big and wild, not cute and cuddly like I was told.

Regardless, I was able to stuff him in the cat crate, even though I was bleeding horribly.

I then ran to the vet with him to have him checked for a microchip. He had no microchip and the vet recommended I bring him to the nearby humane society. The vet also saw my hand and urged me to go to urgent care. He said cat bites always get infected.

I tried calling the humane society three times, but just got voicemail, even though the recorded hours were within range. So I drove there with the cat.

When I got there the person in charge refused to take him. She said they didn’t have room. I explained the situation to her, but she still refused and we ended up in a heated discussion for about five minutes. Finally, she said, “Fine! Just leave him and go!”. So that’s what I did, crate and all.

I then went to urgent care. They cleaned my wounds and wrapped my hand, gave me a tetanus shot then prescribed an antibiotic.

That evening, in the middle of the night, I woke up with a slight fever. So that morning I did a virtual appointment with a doctor and he suggested I go to the nearest ER right away.

When I got off the phone with him I then went to the nearest ER. They then admitted me into the hospital for antibiotic IV, rabies shots and monitoring. Today is now Thursday and I am still at the hospital.

I had an MRI this evening and tomorrow morning the surgeon will be discussing the results with me. It was suggested that I not eat or drink after midnight tonight in case he determines the infection needs to be drained Friday.

So, that’s been my week. I hope everybody else’s week went better than mine 😂.

The perils of a caring, helping life…oh my. Sometimes one wonders about what the purpose of some events is. I can only conclude with many of them the answer is to make us think about life.

Sending you healing energy for a positve outcome!
